Press Event - Zsazsa Zaturnnah The Musical... Yun Lang!


   Seeing a sample of what the new cast of Zsazsa Zaturnnah The Musical, Yun Lang can do is a treat. This is probably the only time one can see all three versions of Ada, Dodong and Didi on stage together for one song. Mostly fresh faces and quite enthusiastic about the first live performance of Ateneo Blue Repertory for 2023.



   I didn't want to ask if they would update the lyrics or the names. I know they're toting the play to be a celebration of acceptance and whatnot but the medium itself could be taken as snapshots of the times. One, when the play and movie came out. Two, when the comic itself came out. And three, within the timeline of the story itself.  It's set in a rural area and cellphones aren't a huge deal. Lingo was what it was then. Turn of the century viewers don't need to have names like Dina B or Sharon C replaced with current or trendy stars. It would be fine as it is.


  With three different Ada's, Dodong's and Didi's, there will be multiple types of partnerships with each performance.  With the varied combinations, every show's interaction and chemistry will be unique.  Zsazsa Zaturnnah herself will be the constant though.

Movie Review - Godzilla x Kong - The New Empire

Godzilla might have top billing but, same as last time, he feels like a guest star in a King Kong movie. King Kong gets the bulk of storytelling focus as he is made relatable with feelings of loneliness, paternal leanings and even a toothache. Godzilla remains a practical force of nature and except for that instance of cat napping, he is still treated as an enigma. It's been a few years so details about the scientist, her adopted daughter and the humor relief are largely forgotten. But we're just around for the slugfest. As fun as the wrestling moves are, the antagonist seems like a letdown after Ghidorah and Mecha Godzilla. His whip work was amazing and he does have an aura of charismatic dislike but he doesn't feel like a threat worthy of Godzilla absorbing tons of radiation to fight. Same with Kong getting a mecha fist. Still, The New Empire is an enjoyable romp. They could just drop the pretenses and just make a straight Kong movie, really.
